On Tuesday it will be time to turn the page on your Inspirations wall calendar for the April reveal and discover a design that draws on one of history’s most enduring symbols.

Aquile by Maria Rita Faleri, from The Handpicked Collection 2, features the noble eagle - long associated with strength, courage, freedom and immortality. In Maria Rita’s hands, this powerful bird becomes an elegant, repeating motif that flows across the surface of a contemporary cushion cover.

Worked with ivory thread onto natural linen using Catherine de’ Medici stitch, the bold form of the eagle is transformed into a delicate, lace-like pattern. Zigzag lines, smaller birds and subtle floral elements add rhythm and interest while preserving the clean simplicity of the design.

The result is a project that feels both ancient and modern at the same time.
