12TH JUNE 2026 - ASU #529

Many of you will already be familiar with the extraordinary project that is The Red Dress and have been following its remarkable story.

Some of you have probably even been lucky enough to see it yourselves at one of its many international exhibitions.

For those of us living down under, we're delighted to announce that it's finally our turn - The Red Dress is on its way to Australia.

If you haven't yet had a chance to read about the project, you can find the article we wrote about it back in 2023 HERE.

What makes this visit particularly special is that 24 women from Brisbane were among the global contributors, designing and embroidering a panel that celebrates the natural soul of Australia - Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef, and the flora and fauna that make this country unlike anywhere else on earth.

This July, they - and all of us - will finally get to see their work in the context of the full, breathtaking garment.

Artist Kirstie Macleod will travel to Australia with the dress for exhibitions in Warwick and Brisbane from July to September 2026, coinciding with the Jumpers and Jazz Festival, World Embroidery Day, the Ekka, and Multicultural Queensland Month.

Congratulations to all the Aussies involved (see photo above) in this brilliant initiative and for all those who contribute financially to make exhibitions like this possible.

On that point, fundraising to cover the cost of bringing The Red Dress to Australia is ongoing, so if you are able to assist in this way please click HERE.

Do yourself a favour and jump on a plane, train, bus, boat, back of a kangaroo and make your way to Queensland to enjoy the exhibition, it’s going to be worth it.
