Description

During the colder months the garden enters a dormant state, many plants lose their leaves and flowers are hard to find, making the hellebore a welcome sight.

Known as the winter rose, or Christmas rose in the Northern hemisphere, it is unrelated to the rose family but similar in appearance with five white or pink sepals surrounding a centre of modifiedpetals or nectaries.

Unlike petals, the sepals do not fall and can stay in place for many months, providing clusters of colour, surrounded by clumps of elegant grey-green foliage.
